Where is La Clairière? 

La Clairière is about 50km north of Strasburg, in Alsace. 

How to find us 

BY PLANE:  Transit time by taxi from: Strasbourg/Entzheim Airport 1hr Karlsruhe Baden-Baden Airport 1hr Saarbrücken Airport 1hr Frankfurt Airport 2hr 15min

BY TRAIN: Duration of train journeys Paris-East to Saverne 2hr plus 20min by taxi Strasbourg to Ingwiller 30min plus 10min by taxi. We recommend that you reserve a taxi at least 24 hours before your arrival at the Ingwiller and Saverne stations. On request, we provide you with contacts from taxi companies that serve these stations.

BY CAR: From Paris: Take the A4 towards Metz-Strasbourg. Exit at Sarre-Union, follow signs to Drulingen, Ottwiller, Petersbach and La Petite-Pierre From Strasbourg: Take the A4 towards Paris. Exit at Hochfelden. 

Is there a shuttle bus between La Clairière and the airport or the train station?

We recommend that you reserve a taxi at least 24 hours before your arrival at the Ingwiller and Saverne stations. On request, we provide you with contacts from taxi companies that serve these stations.

What should I do in case of late arrival?

If you know you will be arriving after 11pm, please inform Reception Desk before this time. They will provide the access code to the entrance gate. 

Is there a guest car park at La Clairière? 

Yes. 70 outdoor parking spaces are available. The car park is closed between 11pm and 7am. In case of late arrival, please contact Reception Desk before 11pm. They will provide the access code to the  entrance gate. 

Accommodation 

What are the Check-in and Check-out times? 

Check-in: 3pm Check-out: 12 noon Late check-out up to 6pm, by prior arrangement, subject to availability, charged at 50% of room price. Daytime use of room up to 6pm: 50% of room price. For check-out later than 6pm, the full room price will be charged. 

What facilities are there in the rooms? 

All our beds have natural latex mattresses and bed linen made from organic wool and cotton. All rooms are equipped with shower, WC, hairdryer, bathrobes and bath towels, complimentary slippers, organic massage oil, and organic shampoo & shower gel, Grander drinking water, kettle and organic herbal tea, minibar, safe, flat-screen TV, digital terrestrial television reception, telephone and free Internet access . 

Is there Internet connection in the rooms? 

All rooms are equipped with wireless connection on request. There is free Wireless connection in communal areas. A computer with free Internet access is available in the lounge. 

Do you have family rooms at La Clairière? 

You can choose between either:

  1. a Superieure Room with 1 or 2 extra beds set up in lounge area
  2. two connecting rooms, Confort or Superieure
  3. a suite consisting of two rooms, bathroom and lounge area.

Do you have cots at La Clairière? 

We can provide a cot at no extra charge. Please make arrangements at time of booking as they are subject to availability. 

Are dogs allowed at La Clairière? 

Yes in some specific rooms only. We charge 35 Euro per dog per day. This price includes organic dog food. Dogs are not allowed in the restaurant. 

Preparing for your visit

Do I need to do anything special to prepare for my stay? 

No special preparation is required. If you intend to undergo the Detox Programme, to take full advantage of it, we recommend that you read this advice sheet.Preparing for the Detox Programme

What should I bring with me? 

We suggest you bring comfortable clothing, swimwear and trainers or hiking boots. Your room is equipped with organic shampoo and shower gel, hairdryer, bathrobes and complimentary slippers. 

If I have a medical condition or a specific health-related goal in mind, should I let you know in advance? 

On confirmation of your booking or upon arrival, we will send or give you an Information Form requesting details about your current state of health, medical history and any specific points you wish to address during your stay at La Clairière. To help us prepare for you in the best possible way, please complete and return the form prior to your arrival. 

The Spa 

What is the dress code for the Spa? 

Please use the bathrobes and complimentary slippers from your room to enter the Spa. When you are not using the Spa facilities, we kindly request that you remain in your bathrobe or wrap a towel around yourself. Guests are required to wear swimwear in the swimming pool and Whirlpool. In the saunas, we advise you not to wear swimwear, but to wrap a towel around the body. Please remember to lay a towel on the bench before sitting down and one on the floor under your feet. 

Can children use the Spa facilities? 

Children below Age 16 are not permitted to enter the Spa. However, they do have access to the indoor swimming pool. 

What are the Spa opening hours? 

The Spa is open from 10am to 8pm Monday to Saturday and 9am to 8pm Sunday and on public holidays. The gym and the indoor swimming pool are open from 7.30am to 8pm every day. We kindly ask our guests to respect the peaceful ambiance at La Clairière by keeping noise levels to a minimum and switching mobile phones to silent mode. 

Spa access 

The spa is accessible during your stay at the hotel from 3 p.m. on the day of arrival to 12 p.m. on the day of departure. If you wish to extend your spa experience, we offer spa access from 11 a.m. on the day of arrival or until 4 p.m. on the day of departure at 30 euros per person per day.

The Restaurant 

Do you cater for people with specific dietary needs? 

The restaurant at La Clairière caters for all types of dietary requirements. Please let us know of any particular needs prior to your arrival. 

What is the dress code at your restaurant? 

The dress code is casual. 

What are the restaurant opening hours?

The restaurant is open every day from 7pm until 9.30pm for dinner. Snacks are available every day between 12 noon and 2pm and in the afternoons upon availability. 

General

Do you cater for people with disabilities? 

Yes, we have rooms specially designed for people with disabilities. Our staff members are sensitive to the fact that some people with disabilities may have special needs and they will gladly provide assistance wherever possible. 

Are children welcome at La Clairière? 

The facilities and services at La Clairière are designed for adults who seek the time, space and expertise to improve their well-being. Children below the age of 16 are not permitted to enter the Spa. Children are permitted to use the indoor swimming pool. Children can share a Confort or Supérieure Room with their parents. No charge for children under 12. Charge per child over 12: €50. Cots for children below the age of 3 are free of charge and subject to availability. We kindly ask parents to ensure that children are accompanied by an adult at all times and that they play their part in maintaining a peaceful ambiance at La Clairière. 

Is La Clairière a suitable resort for someone travelling alone? 

We have many guests who visit us alone. They tell us that they enjoy the relaxed, informal and friendly atmosphere and that they feel safe and comfortable here. 

Is La Clairière a non-smoking resort? 

Yes, La Clairière has a strict non-smoking policy. Guests are only permitted to smoke on their balconies and in designated areas. 

Can I bring my laptop and mobile phone? 

To take full advantage of your stay at La Clairière, we recommend that you avoid using a laptop and mobile phone as far as possible. When you find it necessary to do so, you can connect to the Internet free of charge via Wifi in the communal areas and via wired access in your room. Mobile phone reception may be limited in some parts of the resort. To help us maintain the peaceful ambiance at La Clairière, we kindly request that you switch your mobile phones to silent mode in the Spa and the Restaurant. 

What methods of payment do you accept? 

We accept cash, travellers' cheques, and the following credit and debit cards: Carte Bleu/Visa, Eurocard/Mastercard, American Express and Diners Club. 

What languages are spoken by the staff at La Clairière? 

French, English, German and Dutch. 

Activities 

What activities are available? 

We schedule minimum one activity per day throughout the year either Yoga, Tai Chi, Qi Gong, Forest bathing, African Drumming class, Zen Meditation. Timetable of scheduled sessions is available upon arrival at Reception. 

  • Fitness: gym and indoor pool. 
  • Outdoor activities: maps of local area available for hiking. Games: pool, chess and backgammon. 
  • Books: a library filled with an inspiring selection of books. 
  • Cultural events: J concerts, art exhibitions, dance workshops etc. 

We also play our part in keeping local festivals and traditions alive. 

What is there to do in the local area? 

La Clairière is set in the heart of the forests of the Vosges du Nord Nature Reserve. Discover the many treasures of the forest by taking a stroll or a bike ride along the vast network of forest paths around La Clairière. Just a stone's throw away, you will find the Loosthal forest trail, the Donnenbach Pond trail, the Poet's Garden (jardin des Poètes) and the White Rock trail (Rocher Blanc). 

Besides being a picturesque village, La Petite Pierre is home to a 12th century château, a church, and museums of local arts, crafts and customs, official stamps and seals, and local Paganism. Other popular places of interest in the local area include the troglodyte caves in Graufthal, the Judeo-Christian Museum and the distinct architecture of Alsatian houses in Bouxwiller, the Abbey at Neuwiller-les-Saverne, and the châteaux in Lichtenberg and Fleckenstein. 

There is a golf course in Bitche. Last but not least, the region is famous for its glass and crystal, with exquisite works on display at the Meisenthal glassworks, the Lalique Museum and the Museum of St. Louis.
